School Performances at The Globe of the Great Southwest

In keeping with the Globe Theatre's commitment to education, we are proud to present school performances for the convenience of our local area and surrounding schools. The Globe attempts to provide shows that will correspond to the Texas schools' curriculum and to help reinforce the literature that is being studied within the High School level.

In the past, schools have traveled from as far away as Presidio (on the border of Mexico, 6 hours by bus) to the South, Amarillo to the North, Abilene to the East and Pecos to the West.

Many teachers make an annual trip to Odessa to attend performances at the Globe Theatre as part of their curriculum. We see many familiar faces year after year

TO OUR EDUCATIONAL PARTNERS

We want to thank those of you who have attended student performances at the Globe Theatre in the past. We are delighted that so many students and teachers from West Texas and Eastern New Mexico have traveled so far to attend our presentations year after year. We will continue to work with you to provide top quality shows to enrich and augment your school curriculum. Listed below are the Fall 2007 shows with specific dates:

In an effort to make your trip to the Globe as memorable and comfortable as possible we have arranged SPECIAL MEAL DISCOUNTS with certain local restaurants. Whataburger and Furr’s Cafeteria offer tax-free meals to both students and teachers. Mr. Gatti’s offers “Field Trip Specials” to all students. Call the theatre office to confirm that these offers are still valid.

Again, I want to thank you for your consideration and support of the Globe Theatre. If you know of any other teachers and/or department heads that might have an interest in these student performances, please pass this information along to them. As always, call me, at one of the numbers listed below, if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Anthony Ridley
Artistic Director

The Globe of the Great Southwest is a reproduction of the original Globe Theatre built in 1599 on the Thames River in London, England, for William Shakespeare’s acting company. The 1800 square foot stage is thrust into the audience to create an intimate actor-audience relationship much as it was in Shakespeare’s day. Shakespeare and other plays “come alive” when seen performed in this historic setting.
